Guyson sponsors Power Maxed Racing for 2020 in British Touring Car Championship
With the COVID pandemic putting a stop to sporting events around the world, many have turned to the virtual world. Power Maxed Racing (PMR) a forefront team of the British Touring Car Championship (BTCC) have gone a step beyond, creating their own unique e-sports series. Giving current well-known drivers and sim racers a chance to race, keep their eye in and show their skills, while sponsors get crucial air time.
As part of their existing partnership with PMR (which will see the Guyson logo emblazon the Vauxhall Astra car when the BTCC season finally begins), Guyson International, the UK’s foremost industrial finishing equipment manufacturer, has a Guyson liveried Audi RS3 TCR car taking part in the current PMR eSeries of online simulator racing.
The PMR eSeries Powered by NXTGEN has been developed as a joint effort between BTCC front-runners Power Maxed Racing, esports stalwarts NXTGEN and the Virtual Racing Association, who have been involved with Official esports Championships for various vehicle manufacturers.
The series is run on the PC-based programme, iRacing, and all rounds are streamed live by YearOne and AlphaLIVE. Every competitor drives the same car, an Audi RS3 TCR, with identical setups. The series is run across 10 events, with 2x races at each of 7 UK-based tracks, with 3 International wild cards mixed in, and loosely follows the order of the delayed 2020 BTCC calendar.
All races take place on a Wednesday evening from 20:00 GMT, and consist of a Free Practice session, Qualifying and then 2x races of around 20-25 minutes each.
Each event features live streaming on YouTube and Facebook pages as per the real-world competition. Mike Yau of Simply Race will direct the stream with lead commentator from the real-world series, Richard John Neil, taking to the mic to commentate in the virtual world.
